On January 27, the director of the Diversity Unit, Professor Miguel Ángel López Sáez, participated in the conference held at the Ministry of Equality on Equal Treatment and Non-Discrimination of LGTBI Persons. Throughout it, different proposals were evaluated through eight different thematic areas: education, labor, health, community participation, culture and sports, communication, justice and foreign action.

In the field of education, the working group focused on addressing the importance of axes that allow the implementation of a comprehensive sexual law that links all educational stages, incorporating content on sexual and gender diversity into the university curriculum, promoting the creation of departments that approach LGTBI issues and implement awareness campaigns that invite reflection.

In this sense, the Vice Chancellor for Quality and Strategy, Andrés Martínez, declared that "having a specific unit to deal with sexual, gender and ethnic-cultural diversity is allowing us not only to train, raise awareness and serve the university community, but also also promote and collaborate in long-term educational policy strategies”.

As Professor López Sáez pointed out, “with this program we join the participation in the design of future public policies that comply with the different SDGs in terms of sexual and gender rights. In this way, the University collaborates in future axes of action to generate fairer and more inclusive societies". detailed”

In this way, the diversity unit joins this call from the Ministry of Equality by sharing the need and importance of developing policies in this area to promote more inclusive societies that address sexual and gender diversity from an intersectional perspective.
