On February 8th the registration to appear as a candidate for the URJC-Spirits Spain Advertising Contest, organized by both entities. As the rules indicate, this is an exclusive competition for URJC students, specifically in the degrees of Advertising-Public Relations and Comprehensive Design-Image Management.

The activity consists of the design of a poster and a complete advertising campaign for Espirituos España. During the process, "they work in real conditions, with a selection process, meetings with the client, defense of the campaigns at the Spirits headquarters...", points out the teacher Marian Blanco, involved in the project. All this, with the support and advice of the URJC faculty and creative professionals from active agencies, Pepelu Sánchez, Creative Director of TBWA\ Spain and María Cordero, Senior Creative Copywriter at El Ruso de Rocky.

Thus, students will be able to live first-hand "the experience of working with a real client, the possibility of defending the idea in front of marketing managers from multinational companies and working with creatives from the most innovative agencies in Spain," says Blanco. In addition, the winning team receives a prize in a gift card and all the teams travel to see one of the factories of the participating companies.

According to Esther Martínez Pastor, creator and manager of the contest during all editions, this initiative arose "by observing the need of students to have opportunities to create campaigns for their portfolio that were part of a real process." Its main difficulty lies "in selling a moderate alcohol consumption campaign with a positive message," Martínez clarifies.

The winning campaign is selected by the client, who is the one who will broadcast it. The teachers choose the teams participating in the contest and, together with the creatives, "we give prizes for the best creative idea, best art direction... To recognize the good work of other campaigns that are not selected by the client," says Marian White.

One of the fundamental requirements to participate in the contest is to attend the informative/briefing session that the URJC professors have organized for the next few days. Attendance at the meetings can be both in person and online and the dates are February 9, at 15:00 p.m., in Fuenlabrada, or February 10, at 13:30 p.m., in Vicálvaro.

In this edition, the professors who are part of the teaching team are professors Esther Martínez Pastor and Marian Blanco Ruiz from the Department of Audiovisual Communication and Advertising; Juan José Sánchez Soriano, from the Department of Journalism and Corporate Communication, and Alba Adá Lameiras from the Department of Business Economics. This plurality of disciplines tries to "have a comprehensive vision of the communication process and the advertising campaign," says Marian Blanco.
