The team made up of two third and fourth year undergraduate students, and two doctoral students from the GRAFO research group, has been awarded at the CTF International MetaRed awards. A competition that promotes the development of capacity and education in cybersecurity in the different Ibero-American universities and academic centers of higher education.

The competition is organized by MetaRed, a collaborative project that forms a network of managers in Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) of public and private Ibero-American IES. “It is divided into several stages, this time there were 6 stages. Teams from all over the world can participate, but to qualify for prizes you have to belong to one of the universities included in the network, and the URJC is one of them” explains Sergio Pérez, captain of the URJC team.

"The CTF International Metared has several categories of prizes, last year we were winners of the 'Prize for the best team for stages of the 3rd and 4th stage' and of an accumulated prize for stages of the CTF in the category 'Competition circumscribed to the IES MetaNet'. This year, we have gone a little further and we have been the best team in the 5th and 6th stages, and the best team by country with the highest accumulated of all the stages” points out Pérez.

“When we won we were quite surprised, because the prizes are received for winning stages and accumulating points, and we didn't participate in the first stage because we didn't know that the competition had already started, so we re-enlisted in the second. We knew that we would win at least one prize, because we were first in the competition in one of the stages, but we didn't expect to win that much” the team captain ends. "Very likely next year we will also participate."
