Bringing the profession of Service Engineer closer to the Community of Madrid

Thanks to professors Esperanza Marcos and Maria Valeria De Castro, the future Service Engineers of the URJC have had the opportunity to present their ideas for improvement on the design of services through a 'Design Thinking' workshop, at the inauguration of the San Blas Digital Campus

On February 6, the Community of Madrid invited the students of the degree in Science Management and Services Engineering from the URJC to lead a 'Design Thinking' workshop at the inauguration of the digital skills center.

The Service Engineer, with training in technology, business, humanities and social sciences, aims to achieve differentiation in service organizations, improving both internal processes and user experience, to achieve a better positioning.

According to Marcos, the experience was very satisfactory, because "the students were able to get closer to the large service providers, the public administrations." In addition, Marcos points out that it is very important for public institutions to know the university students who study this specialty, since "they are the ones who, in the future, will improve the management of services," he stressed.

“Both for me and for the students, this experience was very enriching, since they had the opportunity to apply what they are learning in the degree to reality. It has been a very positive experience, they have been able to turn their skills into real learning” explains Esperanza Marcos.

The new campus occupies more than 10.000 square meters on a plot where the old Santa Marta de Babio School was previously located. With a total investment of 7,2 million euros, this project is a commitment to training and employment in the field of innovation and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
