Conference on international news at the university

Conference on international news at the university Conference on international news at the university

From today until March 3, the 'III Edition of the Conference on International Relations' will be held on the Móstoles campus, a conference attended by numerous international experts

Núria Ripoll

“In this third edition we will have ten presentations, four on Wednesday, four on Thursday, and two on Friday morning. Ambassadors, consuls, MEPs, analysts, experts or colonels will be present at the conference. In this way we will have greater points of view to make the conferences more interesting” explains Claudia Guerrero, president of the conferences.

For three days, university students will be invited to learn and delve into key issues of the international reality at the hands of experts from different areas. According to Guerrero, the birth of these conferences arises from the need to offer learning alternatives to students of the degree in International Relations. “Both Ángel Núñez, the International Relations degree delegate, and I, the group delegate, came to the conclusion that there were no projects for people who are studying this degree beyond parliamentary simulations. That is why we decided to create some presentations in which students could learn and get closer to the most relevant personalities in the international arena”, she points out.

The topics of the conferences are very varied. The ten exhibitions will deal with the future of the Commonwealth after the reign of Isabell II, NATO's change of strategic course, new economic models in search of a sustainable model, or, for example, the veil revolution in Iran. "What we are looking for is for the public to participate, we want it to be very dynamic, which is why attendees will have a half-hour question time so that they can ask questions about what they consider to be experts, since this is the best way to learn” adds the president.

“We do this by and for the students, so that they learn in a different way. Being students we understand how complicated it is to look for job opportunities, and many times we are lost for the future, that is why we want to give opportunities and information to students. This event is a different and fun way to learn, since you get to know the speakers and you know what their role really is” concludes Claudia Guerrero.

Finally, in the congress you can obtain a maximum of 0.75 ECTS credits if you attend all the conferences.
