In the 2023 edition of 'Pi Day' At the URJC, the protagonists are mathematical research, both applied and more theoretical. Tomorrow's session is dedicated to them with various talks on aspects such as chaos physics, artificial intelligence, data science or cryptography, among others.
The objective of this conference, points out Victoria Ruíz Parrado, coordinator of the mathematics degrees at the URJC and one of the organizers of 'Pi Day', is “to disseminate the importance of this science in a different way from how it is presented in classes".
Thus, in addition to the talks, more 'playful' workshops have been programmed in which they will be able to discover the 'mathemagic' and the funniest part of the data.
The organization of 'Pi Day' has aroused expectation among the staff of the Higher Technical School of Computer Engineering (ETSII) "We have asked for volunteers for the activities and it has been a resounding success, we have had to say no to people" , indicates Victoria Ruíz. This year the speakers are all from the Rey Juan Carlos University, although the Royal Spanish Society of Mathematics also participates.
The organization's expectations are optimistic, "we hope to recover attendance data similar to that of before the pandemic."
An initiative to discover the different uses of mathematics and approach this science in a different way.
