Nora Fernandez Fernandez

The assembly hall of the Rector's Office on the Móstoles campus has been the place chosen to name the new members of the URJC faculty.

The act was inaugurated by the rector, Javier Ramos López, who gave the floor to the director of the International Doctoral School, Pilar Abad Romero, as godmother of the new doctors. Specifically, there have been 92, with theses defended in the 2019-2020, 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 academic years. The branches of knowledge to which they belong are Legal and Social Sciences, and Arts and Humanities. On June 8, another act of investiture of doctors from the branches of Sciences, Health Sciences and Engineering and Architecture will be held.

For his part, Abad wanted to highlight today's festivity, which celebrates "that you have reached the highest academic achievement at your university, being invested as doctors." The director of the EID has indicated "the perseverance and dedication" necessary to complete a stage like this, "in which you are trained as researchers in your respective fields."

During these four years of the doctoral program, the recently invested doctors "have laid the foundations of your scientific and teaching career, delimiting a plot of knowledge in your disciplines", Abad specified. In addition, the director of the EID has recognized the difficult task of being a doctor, since this title "implies a commitment to knowledge, a passion for research and a desire to contribute to the advancement of your discipline".

To end his speech, Abad took the opportunity to recall that "your work consolidates us as a leading university in the field of research" and that "you can always count on the URJC, your alma mater, since you are our pride and you represent the values of the University".

Next, the General Secretary of the URJC, Pilar Trinidad Núñez, has proceeded with the appeal of the new doctors who have sworn their position.

Lastly, the rector ended the act by highlighting "the capital importance" that this act has in university life, "since it is the highest rank achieved in academic life." In addition, Ramos has pointed out that "this degree will accompany you forever and does not accredit another educational cycle, but a superior virtue for a student, beyond what a teacher can teach: your ability to investigate and provide to society as a whole a knowledge that he lacked”.

To all the doctors who have been invested in their position today, welcome to the URJC faculty.
