As every year around these dates, the Rey Juan Carlos University opens its doors to all those who want to continue their education during the summer season. This edition will be held from June 26 to July 7 and will once again be free and face-to-face, although some courses will also be broadcast online so that students from all over the world can follow them.

The president of the Congress, Meritxell Batet, will present the course 'Elections, governance and misinformation', in which the president of the Senate, Ander Gil, and the political scientist Pablo Simón will participate, among others. This course, organized by the Association of Parliamentary Journalists, consists of three days and will be taught at the university headquarters on Calle Quintada.

In parallel, in Aranjuez, two courses very close to the present will begin: 'Human-centred Artificial Intelligence: How to avoid the Turing Trap?' which explores the theoretical foundations and practical applications offered by artificial intelligence, along with its ethical and legal limitations and 'Conflicts and Strategic Rivalries in the Middle East, the Mediterranean and Africa, in the New Security Dynamics', dedicated to the analysis of the main challenges faced by these territories and their implications for global security. The course will be attended by leading international experts in geopolitics, such as Miguel Ángel Moratinos, High Representative of the United Nations for the Alliance of Civilizations, or Malek Eid Otalla Taw, ambassador of the Arab League.

The environment also has a prominent place in the programming this summer. the seminar '2030 Agenda: Environmental Security, Nature and Sustainable Development in International Society' will address, from the field of Legal Sciences and Humanities, the main challenges and objectives of the road plan set by the UN. 'The future of energy' It will have the participation of more than thirty speakers who will discuss alternatives to fossil fuels and explain the strategic lines that Spain is following in the fight against climate change. 'Transition towards a circular economy: challenges and opportunities in waste management' analyzes the changes required in the production and consumption systems to face a more efficient and ecological economic model.

The course 'Leading from the contemplation of the Middle Ages to Modernity' It is intended to be a journey through the life and work of the Spanish nuns who found in mysticism and the contemplative life a space to develop their intellectual talents. Without their names, the history of Spain would be incomplete, which is why the university has set out to recover and value the work and legacy of these women.

Fashion will be the protagonist of the monograph: 'The masculine and feminine tailored jacket: pattern making and industrialization'. During the seminar, which combines theory and practice, students will learn how to make patterns for making this iconic and timeless garment, essential in any wardrobe.

The inauguration ceremony of the courses will be held on Wednesday, June 28 at 19:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Madrid campus. This year's godmother and in charge of giving the opening conference will be the Paralympic swimmer and Princess of Asturias Award for Sports, Teresa Perales. Together with her, will be the rector, Javier Ramos, and the rest of the academic authorities.
