The event aims to raise awareness among the URJC university community of the New European Bauhaus (NEB) initiative presented by the president of the European Commission, Úrsula Von der Leyen, in 2020. Through this project, the aim is to promote the architectural and its value in improving the quality of life of citizens of the European Union, focusing on three key concepts: Beauty, Sustainability and Inclusion.

The symposium opened with a presentation by Marcos Ros Sempere, architect and MEP in the European Parliament for the S&D group. In order to continue carrying out her dissemination work throughout Europe and Spain of the NEB initiative, Ros Sempere has explained the objectives of the NEB; "The New Bauhaus is a paradigm shift to face the new environmental transition, we want to improve people's health as the original Bauhaus did."

It has been an intense day for students to learn about the methods of the NEB initiative, as well as the works and projects carried out by the women who studied at that School of the Avant-garde during the first half of the XNUMXth century. The Conference has served to make students aware of the ethical and aesthetic criteria disseminated by this current, through awarded works in recent architectural competitions.

With the aim of disseminating this style from different areas, figures such as David Juárez, architect of the Straddle 3 collective, and winner of the New European Bauhaus 2021 award, have attended the event. An award he earned for the construction of social housing made with the recycling of containers. .
