On November 21, Dan Casas Guix received the medal of the RAI to the professional career in the ceremony of delivery of the Young Researchers Awards 2023.

The Computer Engineer from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and currently a professor in the Department of Computer Science and Statistics at the Rey Juan Carlos University has been awarded for his work in computer graphics, computer vision and machine learning, aimed at the development of 3D models of humans from videos with the purpose of generating photorealistic digital avatars.

The researcher, within the URJC, has developed 3 patents in use whose objective is to promote digitalization in the fashion and textile design sector. He is currently working on projects aimed at developing machine learning work from physical information.

Dan Casas highlights the importance of the award given by the Royal Academy of Engineering "it is an award that satisfies me since it is the recognition of an entire career", in addition, "it values ​​the importance of what we are doing, showing that society is interested and that everyone can benefit.”

The RAI awards the Young Researchers Awards, in its 2023 edition, to those Spanish researchers who have spent part of their professional careers within the country. The candidacies have been evaluated by the Awards Commission appointed for this purpose and ratified by the Plenary Session of the Royal Academy of Engineering.

The researcher of the ETSII, regarding his future projects, affirms that he has obtained financing from the Ministry of Science and Innovation For two investigations, “previously we had some limitations, but now we will be able to improve the process of digitizing clothing,” points out Professor Casas.
