HIV testing on the Móstoles and Madrid campuses

The URJC, through the Healthy University Office, carried out yesterday at Seminar 157 of the Vicálvaro Campus detection tests for Sexually Transmitted Infections and health consultations, attendees also had information stands and distribution of condoms.

On the other hand, the Healthy University will enable rapid tests for HIV and other STIs tomorrow in Laboratory S1 on the Móstoles campus. The 'tests', as in Vicálvaro, will be carried out in a painless, safe and confidential manner, the results will be ready in 20 minutes and no appointment or health card is needed. Furthermore, once the results are communicated, participants will receive advice from a multidisciplinary team made up of psychologists and healthcare professionals.

To carry out this initiative, the URJC has collaborated with the Directorate General of Public Health of the Community of Madrid, in the case of Vicálvaro, while in Móstoles there will be the participation of Red Cross, which will provide both material and health personnel.

Regarding the importance of these activities. Ainhoa ​​Romero, head of the Healthy University Office of the URJC, highlights that: “it is essential to know our health status to protect ourselves and others,” and adds that: “we must raise awareness at the URJC that STI cases are increasing.” ”.

The OUS encourages all university staff to participate in this awareness campaign and they hope that the influx will be high due to the resources they provide, "we have managed to bring these activities to the classrooms and for free," says Ainhoa ​​Romero.
