Raul Garcia Hemonnet
The work that has earned Laura Ruíz this prestigious award is titled 'Development of impact measurement for Carpooling in Madrid'.
It proposes a Positive Impact Measurement System, which, as Laura explains, “could be defined as a tool whose objective is to quantify how the decision to share a car by companies causes beneficial effects on the quality of life of people and the planet".
To do this, this graduate has taken into account the following variables: environmental benefits: CO2, NOX and PM2,5 emissions (most representative in transportation) and noise; benefits on quality of life: time savings, fuel savings and social interactions; social benefits: external costs associated with transport, those that as a society we do not assume in their entirety (such as traffic jams, accidents or climate change).
As the URJC graduate points out, “I have used mobility data from the university community and data from the DGT.” The work has been carried out in collaboration with the carpooling company Hoop Carpool.
For this project, Laura Ruíz has received a prize of 3.000 euros. Likewise, the department of the professors who direct the work, Diana Benito Osorio and Gabriel Morales, obtain a total of 2.000 euros to purchase pedagogical and research material.
In her speech thanking her for the award, given on November 28 at the Renault Group headquarters in Madrid, Laura Ruíz had words for ALS patients, like her aunt Yoli, who was recently diagnosed. The URJC graduate asked for more resources and research for this disease.
Looking to the future, this young graduate, who is very grateful for this award, wants to continue growing the area of sustainability in the company where she works, where they offer to “democratize” this concept, through “solutions”. digital”. Laura Ruíz completed her award-winning TFG when she had already started working.
What he remembers most about his time at the URJC is that “the teachers we have had both in the double degree have been people who try to give you everything. Many of my classmates could not go to graduation because they were already working and that gives the measure of what the step has been for the University. It has been something very nice and I have brought along incredible friends and colleagues and teachers who will surely continue to be there so I can collaborate and consult with them.
The achievement of this award serves as an example of the talent that comes out of the URJC classrooms each year.
