A few weeks ago, construction work began on the new building that will serve as a classroom and department for the URJC's Móstoles campus. This new infrastructure will have a common use area and parking both inside and outside.

The projected building “offers a forceful image that is also elegant, slow and serene, thanks to its design based on the incorporation of large gaps between porticos on the façade that give the building a marked orthogonal rhythm, lightness and transparency; the result of which is a permanent relationship with the environment that incorporates the idea of a different and open teaching; In addition, the entire complex is emphasized thanks to the implementation of the building on a plinth that surrounds it,” they point out from the Vice-Management of Infrastructures.

A central patio will be the reference element of the entire complex, since "it articulates and separates the two areas (classroom and departmental), providing unity to the complex and allowing perimeter lighting of the projected spaces," they indicate.

The projected building will consist of three floors above ground and two floors below ground, although the ground floor rises 1,50 m slightly above the ground, allowing the appearance of a lower floor called the 'garden' floor that "with this simple operation is illuminated." on its perimeter from the space created by the natural slope of the land and from the central landscaped patio, an element around which the entire project orbits,” comments from the Vice-Management. The main classroom will be installed on this floor – encouraging use outside of school hours – and an indoor parking lot. The second basement floor will be dedicated entirely to facilities.

The three floors above ground will house the classroom and departmental uses, concentrating on the ground floor the degree hall and multipurpose and meeting rooms that will complement those already existing on the campus, giving the building greater versatility.

Finally, the building has been designed and will be executed with the objective of obtaining LEED certification, granted by the US GREEN BUILDING COUNCIL (USGBC), opting for the Gold category. This certification system is universally recognized for its approach. comprehensive in sustainability, which includes the evaluation of energy and water consumption throughout the useful life of the building, considers the environmental impact of construction materials and encourages the generation of sustainable energy.
