This year's edition of the URJC Christmas concert will have a program divided into three parts. The first act will be performed by the Choir and in it you can enjoy musical pieces such as “Oh Happy Day” in its version arranged by Mario Thürig or Jose Ángel Ruiz's version of “Villancico Cordobés”.

The University Orchestra and the chamber group will be in charge of starring in the second part. “Coga del Fuego” by Arturo Márquez will be one of the works that will be performed in this event. To end the event, the Choir and Orchestra will perform traditional songs such as “El Tamborilero.”

Choir and Orchestra

The main protagonists of the event are the 140 musicians divided between the Choir, with 90 members, and the Orchestra, with 70. These two groups of the URJC are made up of members of the URJC and welcome a large number of nationalities.

Location

Last year, the venue chosen to hold the event was the Pontifical Basilica of Saint Francis the Great, which hosted around 800 attendees, exceeding the expected attendance.

The director of the URJC Choir and Orchestra, Gemma Camps points out that. “The Acoustics were a bit complicated because our repertoire was not adapted to a dome as large as that of San Francisco.” For this reason, the event management has chosen the Ateneo de Madrid as the ideal location to host the concert.

The place where the event will be held is the most important cultural institution in contemporary Spanish history. “It is a center dedicated to culture that can accommodate our needs, and we have also chosen it for what it represents for culture,” says Camps.

Success

Regarding attendance, “the tickets were sold out in 10 minutes,” says the concert director. This success has led the URJC to broadcast the concert live through the following link"This opens up paths for us and helps us reach all students," says Javier Otero, academic director of Culture at the URJC.
