Trinidad was named on December 26. She is a professor of Public International Law and International Relations and, until this January, general secretary of the Rey Juan Carlos University.

In her speech after promising the position, Pilar Trinidad stressed that she assumes the position “not as a leadership position, but, above all, from a position of service.” “My main objective is to be of service to people,” she reiterated. In this sense, she has expressed her commitment to working to make Madrid a “fairer, more egalitarian and more prosperous” community. “This is a region full of opportunities, but also challenges, it is a cosmopolitan territory that is both traditional and, at the same time, deeply unequal. It has great economic dynamism and at the same time a rate of poverty and social exclusion that I can only describe as unbearable,” she noted. In her opinion, it is the obligation of the Government Delegation, as representation of the country's Government in the territory, to confront and try to alleviate these situations. “We must fight against inequality and for the promotion and guarantee of the rights of all people,” he said, which entails “working on measures to address discrimination and ensuring that human rights are protected and that all people can satisfy their basic needs.”

In this sense, the Government delegate in Madrid, Francisco Martín, has highlighted her “deep vocation for public service” along with her experience in management positions and in the legal field. “Throughout her university career she has shown willingness and commitment to dedicate all of her skills, knowledge and energy to the well-being of society in general, and university society in particular,” he added.

The inauguration, chaired by Francisco Martín, was attended by the Secretary of State for Security, Rafael Pérez; the president of the Madrid Assembly, Enrique Ossorio, and the Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Interior of the Community, Miguel Ángel García, among other civil and military authorities.

This is not the first time that Pilar Trinidad has held a position in the General State Administration, as she has served as a legal advisor in both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and the Ministry of Justice.

The former general secretary of the URJC replaces Elena Bernardo Llorente, who, from now on, will assume the position of general director of Spanish Citizenship Abroad and Return Policies.
