Three students from the Rey Juan Carlos University will join their new jobs at 'Sexta TV' and the newspapers 'ABC' and 'El Mundo' in the coming weeks thanks to the First Employment Program (PPE).

The twenty-fourth edition of the First Employment Program, organized by the Madrid Press Association (APM), began on October 27 with a selection process that consisted of a multiple choice exam on general culture and current affairs, as well as a written test for writing a news story. The agreed cut-off mark should only allow them to advance to the second phase. the 15 best grades, of which 8 belong to URJC students. 

Next, the 15 students were called to the next and definitive test, which consisted of a personal interview, carried out by the qualifying jury made up of members of the APM Board of Directors, from which the 5 who would get the place were chosen.  

Of the 5 positions offered for 2024 in prestigious media, 3 They have been awarded to URJC students, Paloma Hernández Matellano who will join the newspaper 'El Mundo', Marina García Castro who will work at 'La Sexta' and Pablo Ginés Rivero at 'ABC'.

Paloma, Marina and Pablo affirm that they are very excited about this new stage, “it has been the greatest opportunity of my life in the professional field,” highlights Pablo Ginés, future video editor at the newspaper 'ABC'. Along the same lines, Marina García values ​​the “stability” that this new contract brings her as a reporter for La Sexta and Paloma Hernández agrees with Pablo when she states that: “My vocation has always been journalism, and being able to practice it in a newspaper like The World is an incredible opportunity.”

23 years of history

The APM First Job Program, born in 2000, in its 23 years of history has provided 286 journalists with their first job in important media. The nine Madrid universities with studies in Journalism or Audiovisual Communication participate in the PPE.  

The Madrid Press Association, created on May 31, 1895, is a professional association of journalists, whose basic objectives are the defense of freedom of information and expression, the promotion of good professional practice of journalism and concern for the well-being of partners. Its territorial scope is the Community of Madrid. 

From this institution they show their desire to "continue collaborating with the Rey Juan Carlos University of Madrid, which is giving such good qualifications and professionals."
