The former manager of Strategic Planning of the Madrid Health Service, appointed general director of the University Clinic Foundation of the Rey Juan Carlos University.

Regarding the lines of action that he will carry out during his mandate, Daniel Álvarez Cabo highlights that he intends to “delve into the training of students of the degrees specific to the URJC Faculty of Health Sciences in collaboration with teachers. Furthermore, he adds that: “I have the desire to improve, even more, the training of the Dentistry degree of those who complete internships with us.” 

One of the biggest challenges he faces, as director of the Clinic, is the creation of the Health Research Institute. “We must establish a collaboration with the rector's delegate in this area, Visitación López Miranda, with the hospitals linked to the URJC and with the Health Department of the Community of Madrid,” explains the new director of the clinic. The creation of this center seeks to combine university research with the research of the hospitals attached to the University. 

The “commitment to the University and the Foundation, the willingness to reach agreements and the closeness with all the professionals and institutions involved in the field of health” are the values ​​that Daniel Álvarez wants to be present during his performance in office. 

Álvarez Cabo has a degree in Medicine, Surgery and Law from the Autonomous University of Madrid and is a specialist in Preventive Medicine and Public Health, among other training in the health field. In addition, he has extensive professional experience in Health Direction and Management, holding positions such as Medical Director of the Ramón y Cajal University Hospital between 2010 and 2015. 

The University Clinic of the Rey Juan Carlos University is part of the Health Sciences Campus of the Rey Juan Carlos University and provides healthcare services to the general public in the specialties of dentistry, psychology, neuropsychology, physiotherapy, nursing and occupational therapy. 

In addition, the Clinic is an important training and research center for students who attend teaching activities and carry out internships, both in the technological laboratories and in the Clinic itself, caring for real patients under the supervision of their teachers. The University Clinic also manages more than 30 postgraduate courses related to health sciences, including master's degrees and specialization courses in dentistry, medicine, nursing, occupational therapy and physiotherapy.
