The Pharmacy Simulation Classroom consists of a realistic representation of a pharmacy like those that can be found on any street, thus having medications, a dispensary and specialized medical equipment, such as a blood pressure monitor. The objective of this space is for Pharmacy students at the Rey Juan Carlos University to learn first-hand about the work carried out in this type of establishment, such as the management or dispensing of medicines. This new classroom is located in the facilities of the University Clinic and depends on the Faculty of Health Sciences.
The event was attended by the rector of the University, Javier Ramos, who addressed the students, pointing out that “this space will allow you to put into practice the skills acquired in pharmaceutical care and this fact is essential for them to live the experience of professional practice as real as possible.” Also attending were the mayor of Alcorcón, Candelaria Testa, who thanked the URJC for its “involvement in the construction of the city” and the president of the pharmaceutical company Bidafarma Antonio Mingorance, who assured that it is essential to “support emerging generations of professionals.” . It is worth highlighting the presence of the dean of the FCS, Carlos Goicoechea, who was in charge of presenting the event.
The central moment of the day came with the discovery of the commemorative plaque by Javier Ramos, Candelaria Testa and Antonio Mingorance. Next, the Classroom was shown to the attendees who were able to hear an explanation of the operation of this new provision by the president of Bidafarma and a guided tour of the Classroom by Pilar Carrasco, coordinator of the Pharmacy degree.
The creation of the Pharmacy Simulation Classroom has been possible thanks to the collaboration of the URJC with Bidafarma. This institution is a cooperative for the wholesale distribution of wide-range medications, with national implementation and 100% pharmaceutical capital.
