The Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation of Extremadura has appointed Cástor Díaz as Full Academician, after examining the merits of the candidates, such as the scientific contributions that have been made. The decision of the FSE entity was communicated by Dr. Francisco de la Moneda, president of the Extremaduran academy.

Cástor Díaz has been a professor since 1993, when he was 34 years old, and has been a professor at the URJC since 1998. In addition, he is considered one of the greatest international leaders in sustainable development and has been director of the United Nations Chair on Sustainable Development between 2015 and 2019.

“I feel very satisfied since this appointment represents a recognition of a strictly academic nature,” says the professor, who explains that teaching and research, especially the latter, is the expression par excellence of the university professor. “I am also satisfied because this recognition comes from the place where I was born and from a very prestigious institution,” adds Díaz.

The Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation of Extremadura aims to research and practice Law and its auxiliary sciences, in addition to contributing to the reforms and progress of Extremadura legislation. “I am excited, it is a true honor to be part of such a prestigious Corporation, in which legal issues are debated and analyzed at the highest level,” adds the professor, highlighting that his duties include making relevant contributions to the field of International Law, which is a “legal system in formation.”

After a professional career full of achievements, Cástor Díaz comes to the conclusion that “only the will to do the job as well as possible and daily effort” is what has led him to achieve these recognitions. Díaz wants to take the opportunity to highlight the importance of legal research that enriches and represents decisive advances for the international community.
