The work consisted of the implementation of photovoltaic panels in new canopies in the Campus parking lot and in the Management building. These covers fulfill the double function of providing shade to user vehicles in addition to generating electricity that will be consumed by the URJC facilities in Fuenlabrada.
The power generated by this installation may reach 102,46 kWp, a unit of measurement used to compare the performance of the different photovoltaic solar energy systems, and will represent an energy contribution of approximately 42,1% of the consumption of the Management building. , being able to reduce the electricity bill by more than €22.000 per year.
The total number of panels installed amounts to 188, thus avoiding 59.271 kg of CO2 emissions per year, for which a total investment of 336.224,52 euros was made.
The installation has been directed by the Energy Efficiency Unit (UNEFE), framed within the Student, Social Projection and Sustainability Area of the Rey Juan Carlos University.
