The director of the School of Official Masters of the URJC has pointed out the importance and advantages of specializing in the academic field.

From last February 6 until next April 4, the first registration period for the Master's degree at the URJC is open. Students who wish to specialize in a specific field or competence or want to practice a profession that requires a master's degree to do so, can submit their registration to take the master's degree for the next academic year 2024-2025.

“At the URJC there is an offer of more than 70 master's degrees, and you can find everything from qualifying degrees to degrees taught in English,” explains the director. From the School of Official Masters they affirm that, last academic year 2022-2023, there were a total of 3.384 students studying one of these degrees.

“The variety of master's degrees is our main advantage”

The more than 70 master's degrees within the academic offer are the main competitive advantage of the URJC, being able to search for the specific degree for the tastes of each student. “Now we are betting on international and dual master's degrees,” declares Vela. This last mentioned modality consists of degrees carried out in collaboration with another company or entity, which means adapting the study plan, being able to develop part of your training in the collaborating company or entity.

Likewise, the director has highlighted the importance of studying a master's degree: "it specializes you in a branch of knowledge, in addition to opening the doors to studying a doctorate and achieving a necessary differentiation within the labor market."

“The process of creating a master's degree is the same as that of a degree”

“The process is very agile, in a year and a half we can have a proposal implemented and offered to the student,” explains Vela, who distinguishes two different processes when creating a master's degree. “The first stage of creation is focused on analyzing the viability of the master's degree in reference to its content, social demand, the needs it addresses, the necessary resources, among others,” says the director.

Vela explained that the second stage consists of verifying the proposal, passing from the Academic Coordination Commission to the Madri+D Foundation, to validate and verify the quality of the proposed master's degree. “This is a very guaranteeing process, since it goes through different levels of verification, from the Governing Council of the URJC to the Madri+D Foundation,” says the director.

The future of masters

The director has taken the opportunity to affirm that this type of qualifications will continue to be a good way to specialize, explaining that “the master's degrees are verified by a foundation, which implies a guarantee of quality, unlike other courses in which you do not know where the information comes from.”
