The URJC Model United Nations (MUN) consists of a university simulation in which attendees debate representing UN countries. Each representative, also called “delegate”, is within a committee in which specific topics are discussed, covering both social and economic issues.

The purpose within each committee is to obtain the consensus of the majority of the delegations and draft a working document that, upon approval, becomes a resolution on the topic in question. On this occasion URJCmun TEEN has 9 committees different, both in Spanish and English, in which participants will discuss issues ranging from territorial issues to security, including topics such as the refugee issue or environmentalism.

Although the event is focused on teenagers, the role of the URJC students is fundamental since “we not only organize the event, but we are part of the communication teams, committee presidencies or logistics,” explains Briseida Alonso. , general secretary of URJCmun TEEN and fifth-year student of the double degree in International Relations and Protocol at the URJC.

URJCmun was born in 2013 as an initiative to promote the interest of the university community in the United Nations, international relations and diplomacy. After many years of work, the organization has established itself as the largest Model United Nations in Spain and Europe.

From this initiative, URJCmun TEEN was born in 2020, the United Nations model of the Rey Juan Carlos University for ESO and Baccalaureate students. Its mission is to help the younger generations have concerns that go beyond the classroom and that they are personally enriched with an experience that will change their school life. In this way, in 2022 they became the largest TEEN model in Europe.
