The book “They:Live. Exploring student lives through Photography, oral history and context-based art” will be shown to the public on March 22 at the URJC headquarters in Quintana.

The book is an exploration of student life, combining photography, oral history and contextual art to offer a perspective on students' university experiences from the end of World War II to the present day.

The presentation will be led by Andrija Stojanovic and Maida Gruden, members of the Student City Cultural Center (SCCC) of Belgrade; Sonja Dragović, researcher at the School of Social and Human Sciences of the University of Lisbon, and Lorenzo Torres Hortelano, professor of Audiovisual Communication and Advertising at the URJC. In addition, the event will have the participation of Mercedes del Hoyo, Vice Chancellor of Community, Campus, Culture and Sports of the Rey Juan Carlos University.

The project

The work is the final result of the international project “They: Live - Student lives revealed through context-based art practice” which aims to involve the student population in the production of contemporary art using the tools offered by the university itself. This activity has been financed by the 'Creative Europe' program of the European Union.

Centers from all over Europe have participated in the initiative, such as the Academy of Applied Arts of Rijeka (APURI), the Institute of Contemporary Art of Montenegro (ICA) and the Faculty of Communication Sciences of the Rey Juan Carlos University. (FCCOM), among others.
