The event that took place on the Móstoles campus of the Rey Juan Carlos University, was attended by  Vicente Garrido Rebolledo professor and director of the Chair, and with that of Lieutenant Colonel Pedro Bernal Gutiérrez, coordinator of the same, who have dedicated a few words to the winners and attendees.

These awards, which now add up to five editions with the one held yesterday, recognize and reward the work and support of the Chair's collaborators on the one hand and students on the other. In such a way that these awards are divided into two categories: 'Collaborators' and 'Students'.

On this occasion, the Chair Council has unanimously decided to award the prizes, in the first place, to Jaime de Rábago Marín, president of the Spanish Association of Defense, Security, Aeronautics and Space Technology Companies (TEDAE), in the category of 'Collaborators' for their contributions and support for the effective development, improvement and consolidation of the activities organized by the Chair.

Secondly, the Council wanted to reward, in the 'Students' category, the student María Teresa García Membrives, for the value of her work: “How can the deradicalization of jihadist terrorists be stimulated?”. It is also worth mentioning that the Chair wanted to recognize the student Stephany Hernánde with a second prize for her study: "Prospective analysis of the territorial conflict between Guayana and Venezuela".

All the winners were awarded a diploma signed by the director of the “Francisco Villamartín” Chair of Security and Defense, Vicente Garrido Rebolledo.

This Chair was created at the initiative of the Rey Juan Carlos University and the Ministry of Defense on July 1, 2008. The activities of the Chair are articulated around a specific agreement of  collaboration between the Ministry of Defense and the URJC.
