Art and nature session led by two teachers from the FCJS

Written by Beatriz Rodríguez Herráez

The artistic research project of Conversations with nature directed by the teachers Marta Linaza and Ana Balboa has been the protagonist in the session of the Center of Art and Nature of Huesca.

The Center for Art and Nature of Huesca, through its research, documentation and cooperation center (INDOC) dedicated a session on Thursday, January 14, to the projectConversations with the landscape, directed by the artists and professors Marta Linaza and Ana Balboa, with the support of the Rey Juan Carlos University of Madrid. Throughout its journey, the initiative also had the collaboration of different spaces and museums such as the MIAC in Lanzarote, the NMAC Foundation in Montenmedio or the Ignacio Zuloaga Museum. In previous sessions have participated in the projectArt walls + Lucía LorenoArt & Gavarresand that complement the other great research promotion project such as ARTE EGO, Art and Nature Tourism in Europe.

This project revolves around the landscape and aims to demonstrate that theartistic practices in the landscape can only be conceived and perceived from the geographical point of view, and that in order to approach any research related to the landscape it is necessary to go out to geography and, based on the data collection that all scientific methods use, build an artistic proposal that dialogues with the logic of the chosen site, which is linked to its interior. It is a multidisciplinary project made up of Fine Arts teachers who aim to instruct students in knowledge about art, nature and landscape that are respectful of the environment.

Over the last decade, the work carried out by this research group has been carried out in spaces such asValdesimonte (Segovia), Finca La Anguila (Cáceres), NMAC Foundation (Montenmedio, Cádiz), the Ignacio Zuloaga Museum (Pedraza), the MIAC (International Museum of Contemporary Art) of Lanzarote and Horcajo de los Montes (Segovia). In the past year 2020, it was expected to include the CDAN in the list of collaborating centers in the project, but it has not been possible due to the situation caused by the pandemic.
