Professor Amador Cernuda was invited by the Ministry of Public Health of Cuba and the Ministry of Higher Education of Cuba to represent them at the UNESCO World Conference on Higher Education in Barcelona.

The Conference, which will take place in Barcelona in October this year, "has the objective of breaking with the traditional models of learning at the higher level and opening the door to new, innovative, creative and visionary conceptions that pave the way for a future learning community. Another goal is to reshape ideas and practices in higher education to ensure sustainable development for the planet and humanity."

Organized by UNESCO, in collaboration with the Government of Spain and the Generalitat of Catalonia, this conference will involve "stakeholders from all regions of the world, especially the higher education community, policy makers working in education, communities of young people and the private sector".

According to UNESCO data, the pandemic has affected 91,4% of the student population, which is why "it considers that this process of collective construction is the greatest wealth of this conference, which aims to become a global conversation on higher education" .

Professor Amador Cernuda spoke as a guest speaker at the International Discussion Forum held by MINSAP on May 19, in which "our research and innovations in education and research during the pandemic were presented, (...) its influence at the social and repercussions on different age groups, the beneficial aspects of physical and artistic activity in the recovery processes of COVID patients and how to facilitate a return to normality".

The Universities of Medical Sciences of Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil and Spain, the University of Seville, the University of Granada and the Rey Juan Carlos University were invited to participate in this forum. These Spanish universities have collaboration and research activities with universities in Cuba.

Among the collaboration activities of the URJC are research on the prevention and treatment of drug and alcohol addiction, research on hypnosis, research on areas of high artistic performance in music, dance and the development of the psychopathology of art, and research on music therapy. All this gives great visibility in international forums to our university.
