URJC fashion student Manuel Escurís presented his collection REVELATION 1:10

Manuel Escurís, who is in the last year of the Fashion Management and Design degree, has already created his REVELATION 1:10 collection "inspired by a verse from the book of The Apocalypse of Saint John, also known as the Book of Revelations, and aims to to propose a reflection on the timelessness and literalness of his stories. This project speaks of what cannot be explained, of devotion, of chastity, of guilt and man's ability to escape from it, and of the crudest side and dark part of the Church as an institution. It takes references from traditional religious clothing, contrasting them with elements of the pagan imaginary of sin and pleasure. The textile prints are their own, one made from verses from the Book of Revelations, and the others are Inspired by a pictorial series by English Romantic artist John Martin."

According to Manuel, when designing, he sees the suit as an extension of the body, a second skin, without paying attention to any specific gender. He works from abstract concepts since nature, animals or the sea do not seem interesting to him.

As for the difficulties that he has encountered in designing his collection due to the pandemic, he tells us that the main problem was the lack of materials since with the confinement the choice of fabrics was complicated since it was essential for him to be able to touch and feel it. to see if it suits your needs. In addition, he missed face-to-face advice from his teachers since it is difficult to correct the pieces electronically. On the other hand, the confinement gave him more time to establish the concept of the project and to investigate more. "I have not allowed myself to lower the level or the demand of the project by excusing myself in the situation, I wanted the final result of the collection to be the same as in "normal" conditions.

In the future, after graduating, Manuel wants to study a postgraduate degree in Central Saint Martins in London to continue training as a designer.
