Human rights and social exclusion: an analysis from academic research

The OEX of the Rey Juan Carlos University organizes a face-to-face and online meeting on December 9 to present the main lines of work of the organization.

El Observatory for the Analysis and Visibility of Social Exclusion (OEX) of the Rey Juan Carlos University organizes on December 9 the conference 'DD. HH and Social Exclusion'. The meeting aims to be a space for debate to delve into issues such as the vulnerability of LGTBI people or poverty and social inequality.

The conference room of the Alcorcón Campus Management Building hosts the meeting, which will take place between 17:00 p.m. and 20:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 9. The event can also be followed online through a link that will be provided to those registered before the session (Registration link).

The conference is held within the framework of the Human Rights week and will include the participation of different experts in the field such as Pedro José Cabrera, Professor of Sociology at the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas and expert members of OEX such as Sara Núñez, Dra. in CC. Information and Law graduate or Domingo Carbonero, doctor in Sociology and social worker from the University of La Rioja. 

Silvia Giménez, director of the Observatory for the Analysis and Visibility of Social Exclusion (OEX) of the URJC, explains the main functions of the organization and the objectives of this meeting: "We are in charge of carrying out research on social exclusion and awareness campaigns based on these studies, in addition to different intervention projects”. In short, the OEX aims to vindicate the importance of studying and researching social exclusion in order to eradicate it.

Giménez explains that there are three lines of work on which the OEX is currently focused. On the one hand, LGTBI people in a situation of vulnerability; poverty and social inequality and, finally, legal sociology and forensic social work. The three themes will be dealt with during the conference through the research and intervention projects that the speakers will present.  

OEX-RS Award for the support and visibility of social exclusion

In addition, the meeting on Thursday, December 9 will serve to deliver the XNUMXst OEX-RS Award in recognition of the support and visibility of social exclusion, which will go to GRUPOIDEX for financing the #Orgullodepadres media campaign. The Observatory will present the award to Rubén Fernández, CEO of GRUPOIDEX.
