His actions to recover and safeguard Mexican cultural heritage have also been recognized with the adaptation of the Mexican charrería recognized by UNESCO as heritage to group equine therapy, an issue with which he has also collaborated in Mexico. In addition to the activities developed with indigenous groups of the Mexican territory. All this activity has meant that 8 public universities in Mexico have requested the award of the Doctorate Honoris Causa to the Spanish professor.

International Project on Child Abuse

On the other hand, Professor Cernuda has directed and developed an international research project in Colombia, Cuba, Mexico and the Dominican Republic, and has been selected and invited to give a presentation at the prestigious International Congress Interpsiquis 2022 recognized and endorsed by the World Association of psychiatry.

The project is entitled "CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE AS A PREDICTIVE FACTOR OF THE EXERCISE OF PROSTITUTION AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF DUAL DISORDERS. AN INTERNATIONAL STUDY OF CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE, TRAUMA AND DUAL DISORDERS".

Some studies show that systematic and recurrent abuse generally precedes entry into the world of prostitution. Different international studies indicate that between 55% and 90% of prostitutes report a history of sexual abuse in their childhood (James and Meyerding, 1977; Silbert and Pines, 1981, 1983; Harlan et al., 1981; Bagley and Young, 1987). ; Simons and Whitbeck, 1991; Belton, 1992; Farley and Barkan, 1998 In this project carried out among prostitutes from Spain and Latin America, with the aim of making an international comparison among women who practiced prostitution in Latin America, a clinical interview was conducted and the CIT, STAI, MMPI-2-RF and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale tests to Colombian, Cuban, Spanish, Mexican and Dominican women between 22 and 43 years of age, with the following results: 84,68% declared having suffered abuse and child sexual violence, 80,9% had addiction problems and 71,81% eating disorder problems Finding that: there is evidence linking the practice of prostitution and having suffered sexual abuse in childhood. Reason why we must design innovations that allow us to fight against this scourge that affects all cultures and social classes, condemning the victims to a problematic future and ensuring dual pathology.
