The objective of this proposal is the implementation of a specialization from the university perspective that promotes professional development and research, generating new skills and abilities that complement the Bachelor's degrees in the branches of Performing Arts. In this way, a new vision is introduced from the global market and its development: the role of Dance and other theatrical expressions in the new globalized economy.

Recommended income profile

Students who have possession of an official Spanish university degree or another issued by a higher education institution of the European Higher Education Area that authorizes access to Master's degrees in the country that issued the degree.

Objectives

The objective of this Master is to expand academic training through a higher degree of specialization and scientific-technical research. To this end, these studies propose, from a multidisciplinary perspective, to systematically analyze the interpretive, artistic and creative processes, promoting experimentation from the academic, professional, technological, social and cultural contexts as a way to promote the Performing Arts in the frameworks of the Knowledge Society, with special emphasis on Dance.
To this end, the following general lines have been defined:

Delve into the knowledge of new information and communication technologies in the field of their application in the performing arts, and their implementation in creative, production or management processes, as well as their impact on new ways of creating, marketing and consume these artistic products.
Stimulate the study of advanced methodologies and techniques used in the physical preparation of dancers, actors and stage artists in general, as well as their impact on their artistic-professional performance and their mental and physical health.
Deepen the knowledge of the therapeutic application of Dance, Music and Performing Arts in general.
Study philosophical thought and its connection with creative processes, starting from aesthetics and the philosophy of the body.
Promote the study of traditions linked to the history of the Performing Arts and promote the responsibility of artists in terms of their conservation as part of the intangible heritage of the people.
Stimulate creative collaboration and teamwork based on artistic or academic projects to promote quality artistic creation and research.
Contribute, based on scientific research, to the development of creative processes in the field of Performing Arts.
Promote the development of historiographical research on the Performing Arts, with particular interest in Dance as a functional dramatic element within theatrical performance.
Investigate the capacities of high artistic and psychomotor performance.

General Competences of the Master:

CG.1- Will demonstrate a systematic understanding of the interpretive, artistic and creative processes, mastering the skills and research methods related to them.
CG.2- Will have the skills and abilities necessary to manage sources and research methods so that they can continue their learning in a personal and continuous way.
CG.3- Will be able to carry out a critical analysis, and the evaluation and synthesis of new and complex ideas.
CG.4- You will know how to communicate with your colleagues, with the academic community as a whole and with society in general about your areas of knowledge.
CG.5- Will be able to promote, in academic and professional contexts, technological, social, artistic and cultural progress within a society based on knowledge.
CG.6- The student will be able to integrate the knowledge acquired when formulating judgments that allow a reflection on social and ethical responsibilities linked to the form, content and production methods of the performing arts.

Specific Competences:

CE01 - The student will know the principles and methodologies implemented when projecting, managing and coordinating the production of scenic projects and shows, as well as the influence of these aspects in the materialization of the artistic work.
CE02 - The student will know the computer tools necessary for video editing, choreographic design, lighting, sound and image editing.
CE03 - The student will master the basic statistical principles, both from the inferential and descriptive point of view, will apply this knowledge with the help of computer programs aimed at collecting and processing data as basic tools for research, as well as other programs and /o tools oriented to the management of resources for the development of artistic-cultural projects.
CE04 - The student will know the characteristics of Performance Art, its influence on contemporary Performing Arts and its development within the framework of audiovisual technologies and interactive media.
CE05 - The student will know the fundamentals of the main psychotherapeutic practices developed in the field of performing arts.
CE06 - The student will know how to approach the development of creative processes and the construction of fictitious identities in the performing arts based on exhaustive knowledge of the different figurations of the body from different systems of philosophical thought.
CE07 - The student will have the ability to carry out comparative studies between different artistic manifestations, specifically those referring to spatial concepts and their connection with scenographic constructions.
CE08 - The student will be able to present and reflect on the relationship between music and creativity in the performing arts and the new musical and visual languages.
CE09 - The student will handle the basic principles of the dramatization of a folkloric event or a literary work with a view to its application both in creative processes or in their study and analysis.
CE10 - The student will apply the analysis techniques and the critical instruments taught to understand, study and investigate the different genres and languages of the performing arts.
CE11 - The student will be able to focus on the study of the performing arts in its relationship with mass culture and the media, knowing the problems of representation and spectacle from different theoretical approaches of Communication Sciences to the arts. scenic.
CE12 - The student will dominate the international tendencies of the creation and scenic representation and its relationship with specialized criticism, with the aim of understanding, analyzing and generating conclusions about the new meanings of dance, theater and opera.
CE13 - The student will have the ability to defend and argue an investigation during the Program in the public defense of a Master's Thesis, therefore they will be trained in how to present conclusions before a Commission with explicit recognition of investigation.

Admission and enrollment

Admission:

The requirements for access to the proposed title are according to article 18, of Royal Decree 822/2021, of September 28:

Possession of an official Spanish Graduate or Graduate university degree or equivalent is a condition for accessing a Master's Degree, or, where appropriate, having another University Master's degree, or titles of the same level as the Spanish Bachelor's or Master's degree issued by universities and higher education institutions in an EHEA country that in that country allow access to Master's degrees.
In the same way, people in possession of titles from educational systems that are not part of the EHEA, which are equivalent to a Bachelor's degree, will be able to access a Master's Degree in the Spanish university system, without the need for homologation of the title, but verification by of the university of the level of training that they imply, as long as in the country where said title was issued it allows access to university postgraduate level studies. In no case will access through this route imply the homologation of the previous degree held by the person concerned or its recognition for other purposes than that of carrying out the Master's degree.

Recommended requirements:

The specific qualifications that will facilitate access to the Master are the following:

Degree in Visual Arts and Dance
Degree in Pedagogy of Visual Arts and Dance
Higher Degrees in Dance, Dramatic Art, Singing and Music

Other degrees or official titles that include Humanities, Arts, Communication, Social Sciences, Sports Sciences, Nutrition, Physiotherapy, Psychology and Tourism subjects in their curriculum.

The access profile also generally includes applicants with higher studies interested in the development of the performing arts or who have equivalent to these degrees.

Candidate selection:

The selection of applicants will be made by the Head of the Master by submitting the standardized curriculum in accordance with the preferred profiles. In addition, criteria of professional experience, academic record and motivation will be taken into account. In the event that demand exceeds supply, the following order will be established: the first priority level will be for graduates in Dance, then in Dramatic Arts and so on, in accordance with the order established in the previous section and according to the criteria aforementioned.

The weighting criteria will be as follows:

Priority according to the profile of the applicants: 50%
Academic record: 20%
Curriculum and professional experience and its relationship with the objectives of the degree: 30%

Offer of places: 60 seats. If the minimum number of students envisaged is not reached in a course, the University may choose not to open the teaching group.

Renewal of accreditation

The renewal of the accreditation represents the culmination of the implementation process of the official Bachelor's and Master's degrees registered in the Register of Universities, Centers and Degrees (RUCT). The renewal of the accreditation of official bachelor's and master's degrees is organized in three phases: self-assessment report, external visit and final assessment.

In the first phase, the university describes and assesses the status of the degree with respect to the established criteria and guidelines. The result is the Self-Assessment Report (IA) that is presented. The second and third phases are carried out by a group of evaluators external to the evaluated title.”
