What knowledge will I acquire with this Master?

Recent reports indicate that one of the most promising professional profiles in the IT area are those who have skills related to Information Systems and decision-making processes and techniques. Along these lines, the Master's Degree in Information Systems Engineering presents a novel mix of Information Technology oriented towards the construction, management and organization of Information Systems, on the one hand, and Decision Making, on the other. In this way, the aim is to train professionals of superior quality, capable of solving the decision problems of this new millennium and leading modern societies, of great utility in numerous high-level companies.

Recipients of this title

  • They will have demonstrated sufficient basic knowledge and understanding to develop and/or apply original ideas, either in the context of Research or Development, in the area of ​​Information Systems
  • They will be able to direct, supervise and actively participate in the process of building and managing information systems. From the moment of its conception to the moment of its production.
  • They will have sufficient skills to manage or optimize the operation of Information Systems already in place.
  • Essentially, they will have the ability to integrate knowledge and deal with complexity and also to formulate judgments based on uncertain information through data analysis tools, but which includes reflections on the social and ethical responsibilities linked to the application of their knowledge. and judgments, reflected through socially responsible utility functions.
  • They will be able to communicate their conclusions, and the knowledge and conceptual framework on which they are based, to both expert and non-expert audiences, clearly and unambiguously.
  • They will have developed learning skills that allow them to continue their training in the area of ​​Information Systems and specifically in aspects related to its construction, through the handling of leading publications in the field (on paper and electronically).

Admission and enrollment

Admission:

The requirements for access to the proposed title are according to article 18, of Royal Decree 822/2021, of September 28:

  1. Possession of an official Spanish Graduate or Graduate university degree or equivalent is a condition for accessing a Master's Degree, or, where appropriate, having another University Master's degree, or titles of the same level as the Spanish Bachelor's or Master's degree issued by universities and higher education institutions in an EHEA country that in that country allow access to Master's degrees.
  2. In the same way, people in possession of titles from educational systems that are not part of the EHEA, which are equivalent to a Bachelor's degree, will be able to access a Master's Degree in the Spanish university system, without the need for homologation of the title, but verification by of the university of the level of training that they imply, as long as in the country where said title was issued it allows access to university postgraduate level studies. In no case will access through this route imply the homologation of the previous degree held by the person concerned or its recognition for other purposes than that of carrying out the Master's degree.

Legal requirements

To participate in the Master it will be necessary to be in possession of the Bachelor's degree or another expressly declared equivalent.

Graduates in accordance with foreign educational systems may take the Master's Degree without the need for homologation of their degrees, after verifying that they accredit a level of training equivalent to the corresponding Spanish Bachelor's degrees and that they authorize access to postgraduate studies.

Specific requirements

For students with the title of Computer Science Engineer, Technical Engineer in Computer Management or Technical Engineer in Computer Systems, the preferential criteria for admission will be the academic record and work experience.

For students from other undergraduate degrees, the admission criteria, in addition to the above, will include the affinity of the study plans of the home universities and letters of recommendation from the academic or professional field, which will be assessed by the Admission Committee.

Prior admission for foreigners

Request:

  • Foreign students who wish to apply for prior admission to the Master must submit the same pre-registration form from the university that you will find at www.urjc.es, within the same deadlines established for the rest of the students.
  • Documentation: Together with the pre-registration form, the following documents must be provided, in addition to the documents that appear on the sheet:
  • Certified/collated photocopy of the Foreign Higher Education Title (Bachelor's Degree, Architect, Engineer, Doctor)
  • Certificate of studies legalized in accordance with Spanish legislation, and translated by an official translator

Offer of places: 15 seats. If the minimum number of students envisaged is not reached in a course, the University may choose not to open the teaching group.

Improvement actions

The Quality Assurance System of the Rey Juan Carlos University establishes that the degree's Quality Assurance Commission will annually analyze the information derived from the degree's indicators and prepare a report that will include improvement plans if the results so indicate.

Renewal of accreditation

The renewal of the accreditation represents the culmination of the implementation process of the official Bachelor's and Master's degrees registered in the Register of Universities, Centers and Degrees (RUCT). The renewal of the accreditation of official bachelor's and master's degrees is organized in three phases: self-assessment report, external visit and final assessment.

In the first phase, the university describes and assesses the status of the degree with respect to the established criteria and guidelines. The result is the Self-Assessment Report (IA) that is presented. The second and third phases are carried out by a group of evaluators external to the evaluated title.”
