Objectives

The fundamental objective of the program consists of promoting the student's scientific research on the problems associated with the entrepreneurial impulse and the exhaustive analysis of the critical factors of success and failure that come from entrepreneurial experiences. The in-depth analysis of the role of institutions in promoting the creation of companies and the search for and proposal of policies that allow improving the conditions for the creation and maintenance of companies in the market economy from different perspectives, business, legal, economic, institutional, etc

Therefore, the specific objectives of the program include:

  • Teach lines of research in Entrepreneurship. For this, the following training actions (36 ECTS credits) are carried out during the teaching period: The impact of Information Technologies and Systems on Entrepreneurial Activity, Business Administration for Entrepreneurs, Cooperation Agreements for Entrepreneurs, Operations Management for Entrepreneurs , Economic Institutions and Entrepreneurial Initiative in the History of Economic Thought, Market Processes and Dynamic Efficiency of Institutions.
  • Training in information analysis methodologies in business entrepreneurship. Research methodology in Entrepreneurship (common to all the lines contemplated).
  • Teach how to carry out research in the field of Entrepreneurs. In the research period that will entail obtaining 24 ECTS credits, each student will prepare an authorized research paper on one of the following topics, derived from one of the lines of research for which they have been previously trained in the previous period.
  • “Strategy and Organization of business creation”
  • "The impact of Information Technologies and Systems on the creation of companies"
  • "Cooperation Agreements for entrepreneurial companies"
  • “Business development strategies for entrepreneurs”
  • "Research in the Creation of companies"
  • “Current research trends in Management and continuity of the family business”
  • “Strategic knowledge management”
  • “Business change and restructuring: localization of direct investment decisions abroad”
  • "Tools for the entrepreneur's decision: risk, uncertainty and multicriteria"
  • “Economic Institutions and entrepreneurship: influence of Economic Institutions in the efforts of creation and maintenance of companies and institutional policies that favor the creation of companies”

The program that is presented covers most of the current lines of research in the area of ​​Entrepreneurs. Seeking excellence in the quality of research, it proposes the maximum participation of all doctors with active lines of research in the area and who meet criteria of scientific excellence recognized by official bodies, such as the Ministry of Education and Science. It will also promote the mobility of professors, incorporating thematic seminars given by visiting professors from other universities that also meet criteria of scientific excellence.

Competences

The general skills that will be required of students of this degree are detailed below. At the end of each competition, the evaluation procedure for each of them is specified.

General skills:

  • That the student acquires sufficient knowledge and basic understanding to develop and apply original ideas in the context of the Research. Evaluation: Reading and presentation of relevant research works in the field, as well as proposals for their improvement. If the knowledge were very theoretical, it could be evaluated by taking exams;
  • That the student is able to apply their knowledge and understanding, as well as their skills to solve problems, in new or unfamiliar environments and in broad contexts, dialoguing with professionals/researchers from other fields such as doctors, economists, engineers, sociologists, political scientists, computer scientists, etc. Evaluation: Realization and exhibition of works in which problems with multidisciplinary needs are solved;
  • That the student is able to reflect on the social and ethical responsibilities linked to the application of their knowledge and judgments. Assessment: Completion of work and participation of the student in forums on social issues;
  • That the student is able to communicate their conclusions, knowledge and the conceptual framework on which they are based, clearly and unambiguously, both to expert and non-expert audiences. Evaluation: Exhibition of works and participation in forums;
  • That the student develop learning skills that allow them to continue their training. Assessment: Reading and carrying out innovative works that include novel themes.

General skills of the master:

In the context of general competence 1, that the student is able to develop and apply original ideas in the area of ​​entrepreneurship, using data analysis tools and models. Evaluation: Reading and public presentation of research works in the area of ​​entrepreneurship, as well as innovative proposals for their application to real problems. If the ideas to be developed were of a strongly theoretical nature, the evaluation can be carried out by means of exams;

In the context of general competence 2, the student is capable of leading multidisciplinary teams in order to face and solve decision-making problems in the field of entrepreneurship. Evaluation: Realization and exhibition of works in which entrepreneurship problems are solved that involve all kinds of professional and research environments;

In the context of general competence 3, that the student acquires the ability to integrate knowledge, deal with complexity, as well as make judgments based on uncertain information through data analysis tools, all based on socially useful functions. responsible. Assessment: Carrying out work in which the student uses specific tools for the entrepreneur's problem in an ethical and socially responsible manner;

In the context of general competence 4, the student is able to fully justify the alternatives/decisions that must be made to all types of audiences. Evaluation: Exhibition of works and participation in forums.

In the context of general competence 5, that the student is able to continue their training in the field of entrepreneurship, through the management of leading publications. Evaluation: Reading and carrying out innovative works that include new topics or topics not covered in the Master, but of interest to the student.

The general skills developed guarantee the acquisition of the basic skills indicated in Royal Decree 1393/2007. Specifically, the competences of the Royal Decree that are listed below are covered by the general competences of this Master as indicated at the end of each basic competence:

  • That students know how to apply the knowledge acquired and their ability to solve problems in new or little-known environments within broader or multidisciplinary contexts related to their area of ​​study: this is guaranteed by general skills 1, 2 and 3;
  • That students are able to integrate knowledge and face the complexity of formulating judgments based on information that, being incomplete or limited, includes reflections on the social and ethical responsibilities linked to the application of their knowledge and judgments: it is guaranteed by the general skills 2, 3 and 4;
  • That students know how to communicate their conclusions to specialized and non-specialized audiences in a clear and unambiguous way, as well as the knowledge and ultimate reasons that support them: it is guaranteed by general competences 3 and 4;
  • That students have the learning skills that allow them to continue studying in a self-directed or autonomous way: it is guaranteed by general competence 5.

The training program of the Master for Entrepreneurs will make it easier for students to acquire the following concrete specific competences:

  • Advanced knowledge of the business factors that promote the business entrepreneurial vocation.
  • Advanced knowledge of the institutional factors that promote the business entrepreneurial vocation.
  • Advanced knowledge of the business factors that inhibit the business entrepreneurial vocation.
  • Advanced knowledge of the institutional factors that inhibit the business entrepreneurial vocation.
  • Knowledge of the methodologies that allow conducting research in the area of ​​entrepreneurship.
  • Knowledge of information and communication technologies that allow research in the area of ​​entrepreneurship.
  • Clear and practical knowledge of how a study is designed to allow testing a hypothesis in the economic field and more specifically in the field of entrepreneurs.
  • Technical and scientific competence that ensures the achievement of precise and reproducible results from which valid conclusions can be drawn in the area of ​​entrepreneurship.
  • Demonstrate a good ability to access databases that contain quality scientific and technical literature in the field of the economic environment and more specifically related to business creation through electronic searches.
  • Ability to identify a significant issue or hypothesis about a topic or problem and formulate the objectives, design and monitoring of a project to address its solution.
  • Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills to effectively present the results of an investigation for critical evaluation by colleagues or reviewers in the economic field.
  • Demonstrate a good capacity for scientific dissemination in front of a non-specialized public, paying special attention to the social implications of scientific advances.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of the ethical aspects of professional practice.
  • Carry out a Master's thesis based on a research project carried out by the student under the supervision of a tutor, in which they must demonstrate that they have acquired these twelve specific skills described above. The master's thesis will be reflected in a written document, a synthetic presentation of fifteen minutes to the rest of the students and to the quality committee of the master's degree, which will be the one who will decide if the work is suitable or not.

In addition, the training program of the Master for Entrepreneurs will promote the development and consolidation of generic “transversal” competences, at a higher level than the degree, important for the professional activity in the future of the Graduates, among which the following stand out:

  • Understanding of the value and limits of the scientific method.
  • Capacity for critical and self-critical reasoning.
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize business information.
  • Ability to apply knowledge to business practice.
  • Ability to solve complex economic problems.
  • Ability to generate new ideas (creativity).

  • Capacity for self-assessment and recognition of the need for continuous personal improvement.

  • Ability to search, analyze and manage economic information including the ability to interpret and evaluate.

  • Oral and written communication in Spanish and English.

Admission and enrollment

Admission:

The requirements for access to the proposed title are according to article 18, of Royal Decree 822/2021, of September 28:

  1. Possession of an official Spanish Graduate or Graduate university degree or equivalent is a condition for accessing a Master's Degree, or, where appropriate, having another University Master's degree, or titles of the same level as the Spanish Bachelor's or Master's degree issued by universities and higher education institutions in an EHEA country that in that country allow access to Master's degrees.
  2. In the same way, people in possession of titles from educational systems that are not part of the EHEA, which are equivalent to a Bachelor's degree, will be able to access a Master's Degree in the Spanish university system, without the need for homologation of the title, but verification by of the university of the level of training that they imply, as long as in the country where said title was issued it allows access to university postgraduate level studies. In no case will access through this route imply the homologation of the previous degree held by the person concerned or its recognition for other purposes than that of carrying out the Master's degree.

Once the pre-registration period is over, a selection will be made among the students who meet all the requirements.

Recommended requirements:

Being the recommended entry profile for this Master's Degree, that of Graduates and Graduates, as well as students from Bachelor's Degrees related to Business Sciences, Economics or Law, as well as equivalent studies, and where appropriate students from other degree qualifications, whose acceptance will be studied.

Candidate selection:

Once the pre-registration period is over, a selection will be made among the students who meet all the requirements.

Offer of places:  15 seats. If the minimum number of students envisaged is not reached in a course, the University may choose not to open the teaching group.

Renewal of accreditation

The renewal of the accreditation represents the culmination of the implementation process of the official Bachelor's and Master's degrees registered in the Register of Universities, Centers and Degrees (RUCT).
