The legal and socio-economic environment in which the podiatrist works (civil and criminal liability...etc.).

Recommended income profile

Students who have possession of an official Spanish university degree or another issued by a higher education institution of the European Higher Education Area that authorizes access to Master's degrees in the country that issued the degree.

Objectives

The general objective of this Master's is to expand the student's comprehensive postgraduate training in other fields of knowledge in Health Sciences, such as Podiatry.

To achieve this, students will acquire a solid understanding of the conceptual foundations of the discipline, as well as existing applied research techniques. This will allow you to achieve two specific objectives: to be able to prepare and evaluate research projects in the field of podiatry and b) to be able to propose and develop research in the field of podiatry that represents an advance in scientific knowledge that results in users.

Competences

General skills:

Acquisition by the student of advanced training, of a specialized and multidisciplinary nature, oriented towards specialization in the field of podiatry research.
Promote initiation in research tasks, through the knowledge and application of quantitative and qualitative research techniques for the analysis of statistical data.
Be able to initiate independent research and try to interpret results.
Show originality in carrying out work within the discipline of specialization.
Identify relevant sources of information, and their contents.
Master the technical and computer tools necessary to be able to carry out an applied study.
Apply deductive and inductive reasoning to the analysis and description of reality with respect to podiatry.

Transversal skills:

Prepare professionals in promoting respect for fundamental rights and equality between men and women.
Prepare professionals in the respect and promotion of Human Rights and the principles of universal accessibility and design for all.
Prepare professionals in the promotion of values of a culture of peace and democratic values and equality between genders and cultures.
Formulate research questions, methodological designs and evaluation of results, which allow the development of study programs adapted to the context from different methodological approaches.
Plan, design and develop adapted and viable projects, acting responsibly and ethically, making decisions and solving problems with an attitude based on tolerance and respect.

Specific skills:

Being able to understand, deepen and analyze the theoretical foundations of podiatry and its development in research.
Being able to recognize and delve into research related to podiatry and special populations.
Demonstrate a good ability to recognize and use the possibilities of research in podiatry from an interdisciplinary perspective.
Understand the legislative and ethical development that affects the current podiatric profession.
Prepare researchers who are capable of detecting psychological and physical problems from the discipline of podiatry, and especially those derived from the skills that emanate from the profession itself in order to investigate them.
Develop observation and recording strategies in accordance with the proposed objects and methodology, as well as with the characteristics of the object or field of study or intervention.
Being able to design and put into practice projects that are coherent and adapted in terms of work times and routines, the nature of the object, the context, and the capacities and potentialities available.
Start research tasks so that they are able to recognize the impact of podiatry on individual and population health.

Admission and enrollment

Admission:

The requirements for access to the proposed title are according to article 18, of Royal Decree 822/2021, of September 28:

Possession of an official Spanish Graduate or Graduate university degree or equivalent is a condition for accessing a Master's Degree, or, where appropriate, having another University Master's degree, or titles of the same level as the Spanish Bachelor's or Master's degree issued by universities and higher education institutions in an EHEA country that in that country allow access to Master's degrees.
In the same way, people in possession of titles from educational systems that are not part of the EHEA, which are equivalent to a Bachelor's degree, will be able to access a Master's Degree in the Spanish university system, without the need for homologation of the title, but verification by of the university of the level of training that they imply, as long as in the country where said title was issued it allows access to university postgraduate level studies. In no case will access through this route imply the homologation of the previous degree held by the person concerned or its recognition for other purposes than that of carrying out the Master's degree.

General access criteria:

The specific qualifications that will facilitate access to the Master are the following:
Degree in Podiatry.
Diploma in Podiatry.

Conditions or special access tests:

Assessment of the student's curriculum, based on their professional experience, their projection in relation to the objectives of the master's degree, as well as their academic record.

Academic background - 30 points/%
Professional activity - 30 points/%
Research activity related to the field of podiatry - 15 points/%
Knowledge of accredited English - 10 points/%
Other merits related to experience or work in podiatry - 15 points/%

Offer of places: 30 seats. If the minimum number of students envisaged is not reached in a course, the University may choose not to open the teaching group.

Improvement actions

The Quality Assurance System of the Rey Juan Carlos University establishes that the degree's Quality Assurance Commission will annually analyze the information derived from the degree's indicators and prepare a report that will include improvement plans if the results so indicate.

Renewal of accreditation

The renewal of the accreditation represents the culmination of the implementation process of the official Bachelor's and Master's degrees registered in the Register of Universities, Centers and Degrees (RUCT). The renewal of the accreditation of official bachelor's and master's degrees is organized in three phases: self-assessment report, external visit and final assessment.

In the first phase, the university describes and assesses the status of the degree with respect to the established criteria and guidelines. The result is the Self-Assessment Report (IA) that is presented. The second and third phases are carried out by a group of evaluators external to the evaluated title.”
