Institutional Accreditation

The URJC centers (Faculties, University Schools and Doctoral Schools) that have obtained institutional accreditation will evaluate the renewal of the accreditation of the degrees they teach at the center level and not degree by degree, as has been done until now (article 34 of RD 822/2021).

That is, those URJC centers that have obtained institutional accreditation will carry out accreditation renewal evaluations every six years (starting from the resolution of the Council of Universities) at the center level and not at the degree level, as was done until now, the quality of the training provided at the accredited center is guaranteed.

Obtaining institutional accreditation grants added value to Centers and degrees as an element of information for the student and for society in general, in addition, The implementation of a certified Internal Quality Assurance System will allow the Centers free yourself from a significant part of the work necessary to undertake the monitoring and accreditation processes of official qualifications.

Requirements:

To obtain Institutional Accreditation of a center, two requirements established in Royal Decree 420/2015 must be met:

  • Have renewed the initial accreditation of at least half of the official Bachelor's degrees and at least half of the official Master's degrees taught.
  • Count on the certification of the implementation of an Internal Quality Assurance System in the center, aimed at the continuous improvement of the training offered to students.

To certify the SIGC, the URJC will be based on the Siscal Model of the Evaluation Agency of the Community of Madrid Foundation for Knowledge Madri+d  (evaluation body of the Community of Madrid), for this reason the URJC has prepared its SIGC manual contemplating the different criteria and guidelines of the aforementioned model.

Institutional Accreditation

Actions

Both the technical team and the members of the governing team competent in quality matters will carry out the following actions to achieve the institutional accreditation of each of their centers

  • Self appraisal: The teaching quality service coordinates and carries out a comprehensive internal evaluation of its academic programs, services, resources, organizational structure and management. This involves identifying areas for improvement and analyzing their compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Preparation of documentation: The quality team, together with the rest of the managers involved, compiles and presents the required documentation, which may include reports, evidence of compliance with standards, institutional data and other relevant documents that support your accreditation request.
  • Collaboration with accrediting agencies: The quality team works closely with accreditation agencies, facilitating evaluation visits and providing access to the information and resources necessary for evaluators to carry out their work.
  • Development of improvement plans: Based on the results of the self-assessment and the recommendations of external evaluators, the university develops institutional improvement plans to address areas identified as deficient.
  • Training and awareness: The quality team organizes training and orientation sessions for its academic and administrative staff on institutional accreditation processes and the importance of educational quality.
  • Communication with the academic community: The university informs its academic community (students, professors, management and administration technical staff) about the accreditation process and seeks their participation and feedback in the continuous improvement process.
  • Review of policies and procedures: The university may review and adjust its internal policies and procedures to ensure they are aligned with accreditation standards and foster institutional quality.
  • Post-accreditation monitoring: After obtaining institutional accreditation of a center, the quality team continues to monitor and maintain quality standards, as well as conduct periodic evaluations to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Dissemination of results: The quality team communicates the results of the accreditation to the academic community and the general public, highlighting its commitment to educational quality.

Current situation: URJC Accredited Centers

La URJC In 2023, it has started an ambitious project to achieve institutional accreditation of all its centers, beginning by accrediting the Higher Technical School of Computer Engineering (ETSII) in order to satisfy the needs and expectations of quality criteria that allow the university to continue advancing in its orientation towards continuous improvement.

The period of validity of the institutional accreditation of a center is 6 years and represents a quality guarantee that the procedures followed in the center have been effective.

Currently, the external evaluation of the IACS of the ETSII is being carried out by the panel of experts from the madri+d Foundation.

At the same time, we continue to review the procedures that are part of the IACS by contacting those responsible for said procedures, both at the PTGAS and the Vice-Chancellors involved (whom we thank for their dedication and effort) to improve the aspects of these noted in the procedure audits carried out previously. .
