Recommended income profile

 El recommended income profile corresponds to that of a student who, meeting the access requirements established in section 4.2, shows interest in the application of Artificial Intelligence in the fields of energy and infrastructure. Specifically, this master's degree is aimed both at (i) professionals related to the areas of energy and smart infrastructures who wish to complete their technological training with the practical application of advanced Artificial Intelligence techniques in these domains, as well as at (ii) those graduates of information technology areas that want to expand their professional training and opt for job offers in the energy and smart infrastructure sectors. In addition, it is recommended that the student has some skills that allow him to integrate and relate his previous knowledge with what he will develop in the degree:

  • Capacity for abstraction, analysis, synthesis and logical reasoning.
  • Possess the capacity for perception and attention.
  • Have a practical sense of organization.
  •  Attitude and motivation of active effort and self-discipline.

Objectives

The master's degree has an academic and research orientation and its main objective is to train researchers and professionals capable of applying Artificial Intelligence solutions to solve problems with an impact on critical sectors such as Energy or Intelligent Infrastructures. Specifically, the master's degree is based on the experience of the three universities teaching degrees related to Artificial Intelligence to provide students with the necessary skills to (i) master modern Artificial Intelligence techniques and technologies, (ii) understand of the technical requirements and characteristics of computer solutions used in the fields of energy and smart infrastructure, and (iii) the application of a research methodology in these areas, to (iv) propose AI-based solutions that contribute to the development of new and better services in these sectors of activity.

CE10 - Design, manage and implement IT projects in the Energy and Infrastructure sectors that integrate Artificial Intelligence solutions, selecting the most appropriate techniques, tools, devices and architectures.

CE11 - Design and implement computer applications and systems that use automatic information and knowledge extraction techniques from large volumes of data for application in the field of scientific information in infrastructure and energy.

CE12 - Design computer systems, services and applications in the fields of Energy and Infrastructure through search and optimization algorithms.

CE13 - Design and evaluate autonomous computer systems that solve specific problems of intelligent infrastructures in a distributed and collaborative manner.

CE14 - Ability to prepare an original piece of work and present and defend it, consisting of a project in the field of Artificial Intelligence applied to the energy and infrastructure sectors in which skills acquired in the teachings of the degree are synthesized and integrated.

CE15 - Be able to assess and debate the specific advances in the most relevant research areas in the field of Artificial Intelligence and its application to energy and infrastructure in order to know how to choose the most appropriate starting point in the design of an investigation.

Admission and enrollment

Admission:

The requirements for access to the proposed title are according to article 18, of Royal Decree 822/2021, of September 28:

  1. Possession of an official Spanish Graduate or Graduate university degree or equivalent is a condition for accessing a Master's Degree, or, where appropriate, having another University Master's degree, or titles of the same level as the Spanish Bachelor's or Master's degree issued by universities and higher education institutions in an EHEA country that in that country allow access to Master's degrees.
  2. In the same way, people in possession of titles from educational systems that are not part of the EHEA, which are equivalent to a Bachelor's degree, will be able to access a Master's Degree in the Spanish university system, without the need for homologation of the title, but verification by of the university of the level of training that they imply, as long as in the country where said title was issued it allows access to university postgraduate level studies. In no case will access through this route imply the homologation of the previous degree held by the person concerned or its recognition for other purposes than that of carrying out the Master's degree.

Recommended requirements:

In addition to this, and more specifically, a competency profile has been defined for all students who access the Master's Degree in Artificial Intelligence for the Energy and Infrastructure sector, consisting of:

  • Knowledge of data analysis and descriptive statistics.
  • Sufficient theoretical and practical knowledge to write programs in a high-level programming language and to be able to interpret the operation of an algorithm.
  • Sufficient command of the English language to correctly read and interpret technical manuals and be able to make inquiries in specialized forums.

Therefore, it is required that students who access the master's degree meet the established competency profile that would be obtained through at least one of the following requirements:

  1. They are in possession of any of the degrees considered to be related to the proposed degree, that is, they are university graduates in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Industrial Engineering and Mathematics or other degrees in the area of ​​science or engineering, provided that it can be verified that their plan of studies include at least 12 credits of courses related to computer programming and at least 12 credits of courses related to algebra and statistics; In these cases, the student must provide information that demonstrates that they have studied and passed the subjects that allow them to acquire a competency profile similar to that of the aforementioned degrees. The Interuniversity Academic Coordination Commission, in charge of supervising the admission procedure, will determine if the degree provided meets this requirement.

Satisfied the specific access requirements previously mentioned, and only in the event that the number of requests for places that meet the requirements collected in the access routes exceeds the number of places offered per academic year (60 places), in the resolution of admission applications, the following assessment criteria will be taken into account:

  • Average mark of the file in the degree that grants access to the master's degree (100%).

In case of a tie in scores, the one with the highest number of honors and, where appropriate, outstanding and so on will be chosen.

According to the agreement established between the three requesting universities, it will be the International University of La Rioja, who manages the student selection and admission procedures, under the direction and supervision of the Interuniversity Academic Coordination Commission defined by the collaboration agreement and described in Section 5.1.5 of the memory. The Admissions Department works in coordination with the direction of the master's degree to request applicants for any of the newly admitted places offered, the curriculum vitae of the student and all the certified documentation that guarantees its veracity. In this way, compliance with the recommended competency profile is guaranteed.

Selection of applicants:

Offer of places: 20 seats. If the minimum number of students envisaged is not reached in a course, the University may choose not to open the teaching group.

External Internships

The External Practices subject is a curricular subject whose main objective is to promote a comprehensive training of the student through the practical application of the knowledge acquired during the Master's degree, which facilitates direct contact with the professional activity and the opportunity to join the professional world with a minimum of experience. All practices are designed so that the students who participate in them acquire professional experience in real situations and conditions, applying the knowledge, skills and attitudes that are acquired in the training processes throughout the degree. The internships represent a decisive opportunity for the personal development and professional future of the students.

Internships are activities carried out by the student in companies, institutions and organizations; that is, in centers outside the university premises, which aim to enrich and complement their university education, while providing them with a deeper knowledge about the skills they will need in the future.

The External Practices subject will consist of two phases.

First. Completion of the internship period that offers professional experience related to any of the profiles that are expressed in the Verification Report of the degree.

Renewal of accreditation

The renewal of the accreditation represents the culmination of the implementation process of the official Bachelor's and Master's degrees registered in the Register of Universities, Centers and Degrees (RUCT). The renewal of the accreditation of official bachelor's and master's degrees is organized in three phases: self-assessment report, external visit and final assessment.

In the first phase, the university describes and assesses the status of the degree with respect to the established criteria and guidelines.
