Basic Information

What knowledge will I acquire with this Degree?

The training acquired through the Degree in Accounting and Finance, endowed with an appropriate balance between theoretical and practical training, tries to enhance technical knowledge about Accounting, together with that of Finance and Business Organization, without forgetting the necessary multidisciplinary training on content mathematical, statistical or legal, making them compatible with the development of specific professional skills.

Where will I be able to work when I graduate?

The professional profile of the graduate will allow him to develop his technical skills as manager, analyst and advisor of the financial and accounting information generated in the company. The capacities established for this degree allow the performance of activities related to finances as well as accounting and taxation of the company, leaving the graduate qualified to carry out his professional activity in a medium-high level position of an executive nature, of economic control- patrimonial and decision-making in the aforementioned areas. Likewise, he will be trained to act in financial-accounting control tasks, both in its internal aspect (internal control of an entity) and in its external aspect (auditor of accounts). 
On the other hand, it is a verifiable fact that most of the business network is made up of small and medium-sized companies, in which case, the student who graduated from the Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Finance could perform senior management tasks in this type of companies.

Recommended Income Profile

The recommended profile for the new student is one with a great curiosity to understand the accounting and financial world and its involvement in the business world. Valuing, in particular, their capacity for analysis and facility to extract the most relevant aspects of a problem, proposing the different alternatives of action. It is important that they are flexible, dynamic people, capable of adapting to uncertain environments and that they know how to deal with unstructured problems, for which there are no perfect solutions.

The degree does not require specific knowledge in the area of ​​social sciences, since the first semesters are devoted primarily to offering basic general training, although they should have a good background in mathematics and feel comfortable with analytical and deductive reasoning.

Additionally, it would be desirable for the student of this degree to have a series of general characteristics and skills, such as:

- Conviction that teamwork is the basis for the success of business projects and, therefore, a marked ability to tackle team projects is a desirable characteristic of the student.

- Ease of communicating technical concepts both to professionals with similar training and to others who do not have such a level of knowledge.

- Ability to promote personal relationships within teams.

- Sensitivity towards the business world as an organized human activity to generate wealth.

- Interpretive capacity that facilitates the work of differentiation of different business realities based on diverse numerical information and different organizational approaches.

Objectives 

The general objective of the degree is the training of professionals with a financial-accounting profile who will carry out their activity in the business environment as intermediate-senior management in large companies in the industrial, commercial, services, financial institutions, auditing, management consulting fields. or consultancy, both locally and nationally as well as internationally, or as a director of small and medium-sized companies, mainly small businesses.

The degree will allow the graduate to continue their subsequent training in any postgraduate degree in the business branch.

  • Provide a general vision of the company, both from the point of view of internal relations and the sector in which its activity is carried out.
  • Train in the knowledge of the national and international environment in which the company develops its activity, both in its legal and economic aspects.
  • To train in instrumental knowledge necessary in the development of other specific subjects of the degree.
  • Offer specific training that allows high-level specialization, both technical and managerial, in the area of ​​finance and company accounting.

Minimum stay requirements 

  • The permanence of the students in the Degree studies will be a maximum of eight years for full-time students. Part-time students may request an extension of up to two more years from the Rector.
  • In Bachelor's degrees lasting more than 240 credits (4 years), the maximum of the previous section will be increased by one more year for every 60 ECTS credits that are added to the 240 ECTS.
  • Students must pass a minimum of two subjects in the first year. Students studying part-time must pass at least one subject in their first academic year.
  • Students who are studying any official Bachelor's degree at the Rey Juan Carlos University may make a maximum of four registrations to pass each of the subjects of the study plan, without counting previous cancellations of the same.

External Internships

The External Practices subject is a curricular subject whose main objective is to promote a comprehensive training of the student through the practical application of the knowledge acquired during the Degree, which facilitates direct contact with the professional activity and the opportunity to join the professional world with a minimum of experience. All practices are designed so that the students who participate in them acquire professional experience in real situations and conditions, applying the knowledge, skills and attitudes that are acquired in the training processes throughout the degree. The internships represent a decisive opportunity for the personal development and professional future of the students.

Internships are activities carried out by the student in companies, institutions and organizations; that is, in centers outside the university premises, which aim to enrich and complement your university education, while providing you with a deeper knowledge about the skills you will need once you have graduated.

The External Practices subject will consist of two phases:

  • Completion of the internship period that offers professional experience related to any of the graduate profiles that are expressed in the Verification Report of the degree.

Orientation to future students. The University offers various orientation programs for future students: we carry out visits to high schools and secondary schools, we organize guided visits to the Campuses, we are present in the Classroom and, at the beginning of each course, we carry out welcome days to guide students new students.

Improvement actions

The Quality Assurance System of the Rey Juan Carlos University establishes that the degree's Quality Assurance Commission will annually analyze the information derived from the degree's indicators and prepare a report that will include improvement plans if the results so indicate.

Renewal of accreditation

The renewal of the accreditation represents the culmination of the implementation process of the official Bachelor's and Master's degrees registered in the Register of Universities, Centers and Degrees (RUCT). The renewal of the accreditation of official bachelor's and master's degrees is organized in three phases: self-assessment report, external visit and final assessment.

In the first phase, the university describes and assesses the status of the degree with respect to the established criteria and guidelines.
